Ambassador Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Pictet-Althann, Permanent Observer","news_content":"<p>Mr. President,<br \/>\nMadam High Commissioner,<br \/>\nExcellencies, Distinguished Delegates,<\/p>\n<p>The Sovereign Order of Malta aligns itself with the statement delivered on behalf of the<br \/>\nInternational Freedom of Religion or Belief Alliance (IRFBA).<\/p>\n<p>My Delegation congratulates the Special Rapporteur, Ms. Nazila Ghanea, on her appointment<br \/>\nand thanks her for her outstanding report. By underlining the Council\u2019s evolution on this basic<br \/>\nhuman right, she provides us with a most in-depth analysis which acknowledges the expansion<br \/>\nand broadening sphere of responsibilities in this field.<\/p>\n<p>As a lay\/religious institution, the Order of Malta is a faith-based actor engaged in many areas<br \/>\ndeveloped in the report at all levels. Our active participation and advocacy in international fora,<br \/>\nsuch as the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, the IRFBA, the Munich Security Conference and<br \/>\nthe Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), enables us to promote implementation of the Council\u2019s<br \/>\nresolutions.
