HRC 55th session – Statement ID on HC on Climate Change<\/a><\/p>\n

Mr. Gregory Tutton, Counsellor, addressed the 55th Human Rights Council session on 13 March 2024 regarding the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights’ report on minimising climate change’s adverse impact on the right to food.<\/p>\n

The Sovereign Order of Malta expressed deep concern over climate change’s effects on global food security, particularly its impact on the most vulnerable regions and smallholder farmers.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the experiences of Malteser International, Tutton detailed the challenges faced by food systems in several countries due to weather extremes, emphasising the need for a new paradigm in food system management in response to climate-driven humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n
