On 8 July 2026, the Permanent Mission of Armenia hosted the Second Diplomatic Chess Tournament in Geneva, held under the auspices of UNOG in cooperation with UNESCO, UPEACE, and the Swiss and Armenian Chess Federations, in the run-up to World Chess Day. The event brought together representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations and the UN system, and featured a simultaneous exhibition by international chess grandmaster Levon Aronian.
Representing the Sovereign Order of Malta, Johannes Kuehn von Burgsdorff claimed second place, finishing just behind grandmaster Levon Aronian matching his podium finish from last year’s tournament.
