The Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipation (GESDA) Summit is the leading global platform where science meets diplomacy to drive impactful change. Held annually in Geneva since 2021, it gathers more than a thousand scientists, diplomats, policymakers, innovators, executives, and citizens to explore how cutting-edge discoveries can address humanity’s most pressing challenges.
This years summit, taking place from 15 to 17 October at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), fostered high-level dialogue and strategic collaborations that transform breakthrough science into real-world solutions; from quantum computing and neurotechnology to climate action and global health. More than 50 panels, workshops and roundtable discussions were held.
The fifth edition of the Summit focused on three central questions:
- How can scientific collaboration be maintained amid rising geopolitical tensions?
- What mechanisms can strengthen international cooperation on biodiversity loss, ocean governance, and geoengineering?
- Can diplomacy prevent an arms race in dual-use technologies?
