On 10 February 2026, the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates, together with the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, organized a high-level event on the International Day of Human Fraternity. The event focused on strengthening multilateralism in face of global challenges while emphasizing that dialogue among religions and cultures serves as the basis for trust, cooperation and respect for human dignity in the international system. Panelists highlighted their concerns about declining confidence in international cooperation and institutions, and how power politics are a risk for international law that should always prevail.
During her intervention, H.E. Ambassador Marie-Thérèse Pictet-Althann underlined that human fraternity and interfaith dialogue are essential foundations for multilateral cooperation. She highlighted that strengthening mutual understanding among cults and cultures contributes to building trust, promoting tolerance and reinforcing efforts to address humanitarian challenges and safeguard human freedom and dignity.
