HRC 55th session – Statement ID on UKRAINE

Jean-François Kammer, Deputy Permanent Observer, spoke at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council on 28 March 2024, during the Interactive Dialogue on the High Commissioner’s report on human rights in Ukraine.

Kammer reiterated calls for diplomacy and peace, emphasised by the Grand Chancellor at international forums in Davos and Munich, underscoring the importance of adhering to International Humanitarian Law.

Over two years, the Order has provided aid to those affected by the war, including refugees in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, amidst shocking destruction and attacks on civilians and aid workers.

He highlighted the Order’s commitment to continuing support for the Ukrainian people, offering medical, psychosocial support, and safe shelters, with Malteser International aiding nearly 70,000 individuals through a team of 70 therapists.
