The Director-General and the High Commissioner informed on the UN80 Initiative, including the revised 2026 budget recently submitted by the UN Secretary-General (“revised estimates”), with particular focus on its implications for the Human Rights Council and the broader human rights framework in Geneva in the year 2026 and beyond. The uncertainty and unpredictability, as well as the liquidity crisis and budget cuts and the related impact on the Council’s work  were addressed by numerous HRC members and observers participating in the discussion.
