On July 3, 2025, The Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations at Geneva, in collaboration with the Bois Gentil Chess Club and the Swiss Chess Federation, hosted the inaugural Tigran Petrosyan Memorial Tournament to celebrate International Chess Day.
This historic event marked the first time a chess tournament was organized at UNOG, bringing together 32 players from Permanent Missions, international organizations, and civil society. A notable honour was the participation of Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of UNOG.
In the end, Johannes Kuehn von Burgsdorff, representing the Permanent Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta, claimed the title with 6 points. GM Rolando Kutirov of the Permanent Mission of North Macedonia scored an equal amount of points but had to settle for silver due to inferior Buchholz, while WFM Greisy Cordero Suárez of the Permanent Mission of Cuba secured bronze.
