Geneva Peace Week – Inter-Faith Dialogue for Conflict Prevention and Resolution
Palais des Nations – 9 November 2018

In cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Permanent Observer Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta organized a high-level discussion on interfaith dialogue.
Keynote speakers from the Russian and Nigerian Parliaments as well as Christian and Muslim representatives addressed the valuable contribution of interfaith dialogue to prevention and resolution of conflicts.
Of particular interest was the combination of views expressed by high ranking parliamentarians on one hand and religious representatives on the other.
Also, the Honourable Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Senate and Member of the IPU Executive Committee, announced a United Nations and IPU initiative to hold a “World Summit on Interfaith and Inter-ethnic Dialogue” in 2022. Senator Kosachev is leading IPU’s preparatory process for this event, in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 72/278.
