On 14 March, an interactive dialogue was held with the special rapporteur on the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. The special rapporteur made a thematic report on human rights related to the ocean within the context of a triple planetary crisis, with a special focus on minorities. Despite many agreements relating to the ocean, management remains inadequate, with risks through industrial fisheries, plastic and other pollution, and deep sea mining.

States acknowledged the significant connection between the ocean and human rights, as well as highlighting their national efforts. A statement was made by Mr. Ralph Loren Eisendecher, attaché at the Mission of the Order of Malta, in which he reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between all stakeholders and highlighted some of the work of Malteser international in the sphere of climate-related emergency relief and resilience-building in various countries.
