On 14 October 2026, the 77th session of the UNHCR Executive Committee held its general debate, opened by the High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Mission delivered a statement, given by Mr. Jean-François Kammer, Deputy Permanent Observer, supporting the High Commissioner’s call for stronger international resource-sharing and comprehensive solutions to mixed movements, including safe and legal pathways, family reunification, education and employment. It highlighted the Order of Malta’s work for refugees and IDPs in Ukraine, South Sudan, Uganda’s Nakivale settlement, Gaza and Lebanon, stressing support that strengthens national systems rather than creating parallel structures, and welcomed the Order’s invitation to join the Multi-Religious Council of Leaders.
